Although you cannot tell from the picture, the glass reflects light in a very beautiful way. This pedestal would help accent the beauty of any cake and I used it recently as a way to present some homemade brownies. I love the green tint which nicely matches the decor in any area of my house.
One of the neatest things about shopping from the Eden Home website is reading the provided product information. They not only offer a product overview, but they provide a "product story" and tell you exactly from what recycled materials the product is made. This Pedestal Cake Plate, for instance, is made from 100% recycled glass and has a detailed history on how the product was developed from a partnership with a community recycling center who wanted to team with a company to find an innovative way to recycle glass products.
