Product Review Monday: Wilton Ultra Gold Baking Pans

I buy Wilton products all the time. It is my opinion that Wilton products surpass other similar products in quality. The company has been in existence for 80 years and they are regularly coming out with new products to meet the needs of bakers. Recently, they launched a new bakeware line. The Ultra Gold Premium Bakeware is made from premium aluminum and I was given the opportunity to review the 10 x 10 x 2 in square cake pans.

The pans I received were perfectly constructed to bake an even and symmetrical cake. I was amazed at how well the cakes held their shape. There was very little that I needed to remove from the top to make a nice flat surface.. These two pans fit perfectly in my oven side to side. Because my oven is less than stellar, I swapped the cakes half way through the baking time to make sure that they both baked up the same otherwise one would have likely baked perfectly while the other would have burned.

I love the size of the handles. They were very easy to pull out of the oven and carry. Plus, the pan dimensions are stamped on the handles which is wonderful because I hate pulling out rulers to try to figure out which size pan i am working with. Each pan took one standard box of cake mix.

The cakes came out perfectly and since I was making a large cake that needed stacked, I was pleased to find that they fit well together without having to shape the cakes. Overall, I was very pleased with these pans and I am sure that all of the pans in this bakeware line would suite the needs of any baker.

Curious about the final product? Come back on Wednesday for my (Almost) Wordless Wednesday post and see my first baby shower cake!

Pros:
- These were perhaps the most even cakes I have baked to date.
- There is a lifetime warranty!
- I love the gold color.
- The size is stamped on the handles which were generously sized.
- Cakes did not stick.
- Easy to clean.
- Reasonable priced (these pans retail for $17.99 each)

Cons:
- Unfortunately, the aluminum bakeware is not dishwasher safe.
- I am very rough with my pans, so I am a bit worried that I would crush these in storage. I am going to keep these pans separate from my normal pans.

Rating:  Star rating system: 1=run away screaming, 2=pass, 3= OK but wait for a good coupon, 4= definitely buy, 5=stop what you are doing right now and buy!

My rating: 4.5
