Technique/Terminology Thursday: Alternate Ways to Prep Your Cake Pan

This week's techniques comes from a Cake Mom reader, Grandma2Selena.

Grandma2Selena uses some really neat techniques to prepare her pans. In order to avoid the cake "bubble" that can occur when baking, she wraps the outside of the pan in wet towels and secures it with a pin. This is an alternative to using a cake leveler or bake even strips. If you use this technique, do not panic if the towels smell a bit in the oven and make sure you remove the towels as soon as the pan comes out of the oven.

She also shared a cool idea to prevent the cake from sticking to the pan. She uses wax paper instead of flour and grease. The wax paper peels off easily and does not affect the cake at all!

Thanks Grandma2Selena for the great tips!  I love getting new ideas from readers, so if you have some neat tips you would like featured, please email me at jamielz@verizon.net.
