Foodie Friday: Tropical Traditions Honey Review and GIVEAWAY!! **ENDED**

Tropical Traditions Canadian Organic Raw Honey is different from other honeys on the market. Most honey harvested for the market comes from bee farms. Many of the plants that bees use to obtain pollen are treated with pesticides and fertilizers. Tropical Traditions, on the other hand, sources its honey from a remote area in Canada that is certified organic. These regions are a rich source of wild vegetation that produce some of the finest honey in the world.

I was a bit surprised by the color and texture of the honey, so I was very interested to see how well it would work as an ingredient in baked goods. I was also very eager to see how it tasted so I did not wait too long to do a taste test. The honey alone was absolutely delicious. It was flavorful and had no traces of artificial flavor like the other jar of honey I have sitting in my cupboard. I decided to use the honey to make some peanut butter cookies.

Peanut Butter and Honey Cookies
Ingredients
1/4 cup Tropical Traditions Organic Honey
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1&1/4 cups flour
1/4 cup butter (salted)
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions
Preheat oven to 325°. Cream together butter, peanut butter and brown sugar. Beat in honey in a slow, steady stream then beat in egg. Sift dry ingredients and mix into batter. Chill dough for at least one hour. Place a spoonful of dough on cookie sheet 3 inches apart. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until just firm.

Results: The honey worked very well as an ingredient. I was a little concerned about the texture of the honey (I was unable to pour the honey in and rather had to scoop it in) but it had no effect on the outcome. The cookies were delicious, the honey was delicious, my family was happy! I would highly recommend this honey for anyone, especially those who try to eat organic.
