Product Review Monday: Microwave Mug Cakes Plus GIVEAWAY!! **ENDED**

Do you ever find yourself craving cake, but you don't feel like going through the hassle of preparing, baking and icing one and don't require a huge cake that will just go to waste? If you answered yes, then 101 Recipes for Microwave Mug Cakes is a must-have cookbook.  The cookbook, authored by Stacey J. Miller, contains easy to follow recipes for single serving desserts that require simple ingredients, a microwave, a mug and saucer, and a mixing bowl!

The recipes in this book are a perfect and simple way to help you satisfy cravings. They are also great to use with kids. My kids loved helping me prepare their cakes and were amazed at how quickly they "baked" in the microwave. These single serving cakes are great after school snacks! Each recipe has a suggestion for a topping, or you can add your own.

Results: I decided to make the Chocolate Caramel Microwave Mug Cakes with my kids. We had all the ingredients in our house, so I was thrilled to not have to run to the store. By simply combining the ingredients (egg, caramel ice cream syrup, oil, vanilla, baking powder, sugar, cocoa powder and flour). The recipe was simple to follow and my kids were easily able to make their own cakes.  The taste was delicious as well. We added some left over whipped cream frosting from a cake I made this weekend and my kids had a blast adding sprinkles. They even made me blindfold myself so they could have a tasting contest. They added a few ingredients (chocolate candies) which actually helped to enhance the chocolate taste. Although it was messy (see picture below), it was a fun and tasty activity. (The cakes themselves were not messy, just my kids).

I am thrilled that I have this book. My daughter often wants an opportunity to decorate cakes, and this is a quick and easy alternative to having to make a whole cake or a batch of cupcakes.
