Do Art Pottery Studio to review. This product introduces children to the art and history of hand sculpted pottery. From pinch pots to clay figurines, this pottery wheel set will teach and inspire. There is also a fully illustrated instruction booklet that will provide young artists with an exceptional introduction to the art and craft of hand thrown pottery. The wheel surface is grooved which helps to hold the clay firmly and keeps it centered. The foot pedal operation means no on/off switch to worry about, so the batteries last a long time. The foot pedal operation requires 4 C batteries (not included).
The appropriate age for this product is 8 and up. My son is 7 and my daughter is 5 and they were really excited to get started on making their own pottery. The spinning wheal was far too complicated for my daughter, but my son was able to use it with minimal assistance from me.
The instruction booklet was very nice and contained detailed instructions for different kinds of pottery. My son decided to make a pinch pot and my daughter decided to just make a couple of sculptures. I was pretty amazed at how well this product worked, for being a toy. I took pottery in highschool, so I played around with it and was able to make a decent shaped pot. Every tool worked exactly as intended and the foot petal worked great as well. My children were entertained for an hour or so working on their pottery. They were a bit frustrated with the drying time because they were so eager to get their artwork painted. The results were adorable (at least to a mother) and I will definitely treasure them forever!
My daughter's "sculptures" (one is a dog laying in a bed and the other is a cat).
Both of my children were very proud of their pottery and enjoyed the product.
