DOGSWELL NUTRISCA Review

NUTRISCA is DOGSWELL's brand new potato-free and grain-free dog food. The food, which hits the store shelves this October is low on the glycemic index and contains highly nutritious chickpeas & peas. Low glycemic foods are meant to provide better digestibility for sustained energy. The food is also Veterinarian approved, made in the USA, environmentally friendly, and preferred 3 to 1 in a taste test. The benefits of this food may just having you say, "Later tater!"

I was given two bags of NUTRISCA to review. My dog, Butch, is a bit of a picky eater (because he is pretty spoiled). He prefers canned dog food to dry and will wait most of the day to see if he is going to get some canned food before he will finally settle for the dry. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I placed the food down for him and he devoured the entire bowl without hesitation! We were given both the  lamb & chickpea as well as the chicken & chickpea recipes. Judging by the amount of time the food remained in the bowl, it appeared that he preferred the lamb & chickpea version. The size of the food was small in comparison to the brand that we typically buy, though I doubt that this makes much a difference to dogs. Although this product is supposed to provide better digestibility, I found that Butch had terrible gas after eating this. It was actually bad enough to clear a room. He tends to get this with the canned foods as well, so I am not sure what ingredient causes this for him.  After a few days of starting the food, the gas subsided.  I am assuming that this meant his system was getting used to whatever ingredient was causing the problem. Gas or no gas, he certainly enjoyed the taste.
