Digital picture frames make great gifts. I received a CEIVA Pro 80 Connected Digital Photo Frame with a one-year PicturePlan photo delivery service to review. Registration is simple and the directions that are included with the frame are very easy to follow.  The frame comes with interchangeable faces to match your décor.  I was concerned that uploading pictures would take a really long time, but it was very simple and the upload was quite quick. As soon as you release the pictures to the frame, it can appear immediately on your frame after hitting one button. The frame is easy to turn on with button, but unfortunately you have to go through the menu a bit to turn it off. This is not a really big deal, it would just make more sense to me to be able to turn it off the same way it was turned on. I am very impressed with the digital clarity. I have found  that some digital frames are difficult to see at certain angles, but this was not the case with the CEIVA frame.  Overall, I am quite happy with the frame!

Wendell August Review

Wendell August  offers hand crafted products that make perfect gifts for so many people on your Christmas list this year, including those people who are so hard to shop for because they already seem to have everything.  The company has been creating collectibles for nearly 90 years and their products are American made.

Their products are crafted by hand using a multi-step process. Skilled artisans hand carve each design and then handhammer each piece into aluminum and other metals. Each piece also bears the mark or signature of the artist.  

Wendell August  is well known for their heirloom-quality ornaments and I had the pleasure of reviewing their 2010 Annual Ornament, “Home for the Holidays”.  The ornament contains amazing detail and is truly stunning. It comes packaged in a gift box and is encased in a plastic sleeve to help protect the ornament.  The ornament can be hung using a traditional metal hanger (included) or with a satin ribbon to help create a more elegant look. There is also a small card explaining the history and methods behind the Wendell August pieces.  The price of this high quality ornament is only $10, a steal in my book.

In addition to their ornaments, Wendell August Forge also offers a wide variety of gift items to include accent dishes, bag tags, cookie tins, crosses and more. There is an option to personalize the gifts as well.

HearthSong Review and GIVEAWAY #2 **ENDED*

HearthSong is an awesome site to turn to for holiday shopping. They sell tons of fun projects for kids of all ages and I was given the opportunity to work with them again! They offer a wide variety of educational and fun products that are sure to help your children beat the cabin fever this winter. This holiday season, I was able to review two great products. Here is the second!!

My son is a little explorer. He loves science and was intrigued by the Sea Scope the minute he saw it on the HearthSong website. The product is a telescope that can be used to explore land, air and sea! It is designed to reach distances of 4-5 feet and can be used underwater which my son thought was just amazing. There is a temperature strip and ruler attached to encourage children to make scientific observations and an Aqua Light helps them see better underwater.  My son loved to use his Sea Scope to "spy" on his sister and her friend when they were playing outside (as pictured below) and my husband allowed him to use it in our shark tank (yes, we have a shark tank) which was the highlight of my son's day. The Sea Scope collapses for easier storage and is built pretty sturdy. It is also reasonably priced at $29.98.

Gift Giving Guide: This is a great product for any child who loves to explore. I would imaging that would be most children so this one will likely be a winner!!

Zibits Review and GIVEAWAY!! **ENDED**

Zibits are mini collectible robots that are controlled with a wireless remote control. There are 12 Zibits to collect in all and each makes robotic sounds and has light effects. They are for ages 6+ and are available for only $9.99 a piece. Zibits will be releasing new designs in 2010 as well as accessory packs for creating and building the ultimate Zibits playground.

My son is completely fascinated by robots and was very eager to review a Zibit. The product requires 2 AAA batteries and each one is individually packaged. Each Zibit has a name and a "profile" listed on the packaging. The robots are about as tall as a tennis ball. The remote control allows your child to move the robot forward and turn it up to 360degrees. My son really loved this product. He had a great time navigating it across the floor and was so excited to own a "real robot". It took him about 5 minutes into his play time to announce that he was going to start collecting all the Zibits. This is definitely a fun product and my son highly recommends it!

Review: This product was incredibly easy to fill. You simply remove the spray cap from your favorite perfume, press the Travalo on top of the plastic tube and press it up and down, spraying the perfume into the Travalo. I liked the see through chamber as I could tell exactly how much perfume was being inserted. After filling it, I was happy with how light weight it was. This product would be great for travel and every day use as it would fit easily into your purse.  The spray worked as intended and there was zero spillage!

Applied Labels Review

My children's school mandates that we label everything including their bookbags, clothing and shoes.  School supplies are a breeze to label, but using regular labels on clothing and shoes is nothing short of frustrating. Shoe labels easily come off and can get really dirty and clothing labels need reapplied after each wash. Applied Labels knows the reality of labeling such products and has created labels that actually sustain wash and wear!

Applied Labels are extra-tough, really sticky and are dishwasher safe and laundry-safe when applied to tags.  They can be applied easily to any hard surface. For fabric items, you simply sandwich the tag of the item between the Applied Label and the blank clothing backer with the sticky sides together. For shoes, you place the name label to the inside flat heel area of the shoe and place a Shoe Shield over the name label. Shoe Shields and clothing backers are included with your Applied Label order.

There are a number of icons to choose from and the labels can be personalized with first and last name. I received a set for my son. The labels were really clear and had a soccer ball to appeal to his current hobby. The stickers arrived nicely packaged in a resealable bag and envelope. The product worked really great and I am thrilled to finally have a product that will actually stay put!

Gift Giving Guide: The middle of the school year is always a great time to restock things like labels. These would make great stocking stuffers for kids.

The Art of Soy Container Candle Making DVD Review and GIVEAWAY!! **ENDED**

I love to burn candles and have never considered making my own candles until now. The Art of Soy Container Candle Making with Lareen Falco is an instructional DVD that shows you how easy it can be to make your own amazing candles.

The DVD includes everything you need to know about making soy candles. Laureen reviews safety instructions and briefly reviews the history of candles. She educates on the benefits of soy wax to include the fact that it is non-toxic,biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Through the DVD you learn what to buy and Laureen walks you through the entire process of candle making. Laureen even explains how to best burn your candles. There are also bonus features to include an interview with Laureen and bloopers!

The DVD was well made in High Definition. There is soothing piano music playing throughout the video and Laureen walks you through the process at a great pace. The DVD definitely inspired me to give candle making a try. I picked up an inexpensive candle making kit from my local craft store so I could see if it was as easy as it looked...and it was. Here is my first attempt at making candles!

The whole candle making process is a bit too time consuming for my busy life, but as the children get older and less demanding of my time, I am going to really consider coming back to this very fun craft!

Carmex Moisture Plus Review and GIVEAWAY!! **ENDED**

Carmex has been known for their high quality lip care products and now that winter is here, it is really important to find high quality lip products that will keep your lips from chapping during the frigid weather.  I was given two products to review: Carmex Moisture Plus Sheer Pink and Sheer Peach Tint Lip Balms.

Review:  After reviewing a large assortment of products for Carmex last month, I have become a real fan. The lip balms come packaged in bright packaging that clearly identifies the shade. I am new to using tinted lip balm and I think that after trying these I will stick with tinted from now on. The tint is very slight, but it provides just enough color to make your lips look really healthy. I do not typically wear lip stick because of the caked-on and sticky feel, but this product leaves your lips feeling extremely moist and soft.  I found that the length of wear was comparable to most lip products on the market and while it did not reapplied numerous times throughout the day, each time was like a treat for my lips. If you are not a fan of tinted lip balm, then Carmex does offer a sheer option.
