The Frugal Foodie Cookbook: Waste-Not Recipes for the Wise Cook
is a great little cookbook that shows you how you can cook for yourself, your kids, or your family as a whole on a budget. Healthier than popping frozen foods in the oven, the recipes in this book look easy to make (I love casserole and soup recipes) and are appealing to people of all ages.
In addition to tons of great recipe ideas, the book is filled with other helpful frugal hints and "cents-able solutions". My favorite tip was to put leftover salad in a tortilla wrap the next day for a snack. There are tips for saving money throughout the whole book and I liked the information on ingredient substitutions. There were even some fun ideas for getting kids to eat healthier such as using food coloring in milk.
The only thing that was missing were pictures (there were cute drawings scattered throughout the book just not actual photos of completed meals). Typically, I browse through pictures to see what is mouthwatering when going through a cookbook so I had to change my approach with this book. Since it was organized by meals I did not have to go through it page by page and could, instead, flip to the section and find a recipe that way.
