Drop Everything and Write! Review and GIVEAWAY!! **ENDED**

Writing can be an amazing way to express yourself; however, getting started can be a very intimidating experience for children. Drop Everything and Write: An Easy Breezy Guide for Kids Who Want to Write a Story by Linda Leopold Strauss, is a how-to manual for kids which helps take the anxiety out of story writing and can inspire your writers to pick up that pencil and get started.

The book is organized into the following chapters:
1. Drop Everything and Write!
2. Reading and Writing
3. Paying Attention (with All Five Senses)
4. The Magic of Details
5. Beginning with the Beginnings
6. Moving on to Middles
7. Satisfying Endings
8. Taking a Break
9. Building Characters
10.Show, Don’t Tell
11. Talking about Talking
12. Watch Your Language!
13. Roadmap to a Story
14. Polishing Your Story

This book is obviously written for those who are literate and want to make a real effort to create a story. Quite frankly, I think it would be a perfect read for an adult who wishes to do the same! I really like the structure of the book. The chapters get to the point, provide great examples, and contain brief exercises which allow the reader to practice the concepts.   These exercises are really great and can help make writing seem a lot less intimidating. Lisa Leopold does a really great job of explaining what to include (as well as exclude) in a great story.  I would highly recommend this book for any preteen-adult who has a desire to write but is not sure where to start!

Connect here:  There is a Facebook page for DROP EVERYTHING AND WRITE where Linda is offering writing tips and invites young writers to share their first sentences, story ideas and ask questions. Like it here!
Buy it here:  Drop Everything and Write is available through Amazon for $15.95.

Win it here: One lucky Cake Mom reader is going to win Drop Everything and Write: An Easy Breezy Guide for Kids Who Want to Write a Story!

I would actually give this to my dad. He is a school teacher and LOVES to teach his kids how to write, and since his birthday is coming up, I think this would make for a great gift!

This book looks great! I'd like to win because my 4 year old has already "written" two books. This would help me help her foster her desire to write more books.
One day on our way home from school, she said "Mom, I want to write a book."
Thanks
