Mommy & Daddy Work to Make Some Dough

Children often have a hard time understanding why parents have to work for a living. I can remember being 8 years old and begging my mother to quit her job so  that she could drop me off and pick me up from school every day. Mommy and Daddy Work to Make Some Dough, by Jennifer Lynn Pereyra, is a book designed to reassure children that parents are doing what is best for the family when they both work.  The story is about Rebecca who does not want her parents to leave every day and her parents who help explain that they have to make a living and provide for their family.

The book is really cute and is written in rhyme. I read it to my daughter who could identify with the book. The illustrations were full page and were bright and colorful. The book does a good job of explaining why parents have to go to work everyday and why this shows their children that they are loved. I would definitely recommend this book for families who have children who struggle with the concept of parents working.
