I remember when I was a teenager and all I could afford was "drug store makeup". Although they are the most widely known makeup brands, they have not always been the best in quality. Makeup has come a long way and I am continually impressed by the high quality makeup that COVERGIRL has been releasing over the past few years. I was given the opportunity to review two of their products from their new NatureLuxe collection.
The NatureLuxe Silk Foundation has been highly recommended by professional makeup artists for its finish and light feel. Rather than using heavy chemical bases, this product uses coconut water, natural jojoba, and rosehip extracts. It is available in 14 shades ranging from light to dark tones. It is oil-free, SPF 10 and dermatologically tested. The shade I received was much to dark for my skin (I could probably pass for a Twilight vampire most days) so it is hard to give you feedback on the blending factor. I can say that I enjoyed the fresh scent and that my skin felt light and smooth after application. The liquid foundation has a suggested retail price of $11.99.
The NatureLuxe Gloss Balm is also highly recommended by makeup artists for its sheer color and non-sticky, lightweight feel. It is formulated to moisturize and comes in 16 shades. Each balm has SPF 15.I was a bit nervous about applying the color I received (cabernet) generously because it was very dark in the tube. It applied, however, beautifully and provided much more of a glossy tint as opposed to the caked-on lip stick look I was expecting. The moisturize effect was dramatic and very soothing. Each balm retails for approximately $6.49.
