Friday has become my favorite day of the week. Not only is it the start of the weekend (at 4:30 at least) but it is also our Family Game Night! My children, husband, and I have been doing family game night for a couple of months now and it has really helped bring us closer together. To help add to the excitement, we try to play a new game at least once a month. This month, we were glad we had the chance to try Cranium Brain Breaks!
Cranium Brain Breaks is a collection of 200 different games that can each be played in 60 seconds. Rather than being a competitive game, this one forces players to work together to successfully complete as many activities as possible. Players draw a card from the deck and try to complete it before the time runs out on the 60 second timer. Activities may include finding certain items around the house, drawing a comic strip, or molding a famous landmark out of clay. Everything you need to play the game is included in the creative box.
Review: Although I truly love family game night, the competitive nature can lead to occasional emotional breakdowns. This is why I LOVED this game. It was fun and had us cracking up at times. Since the point of the game was to work collaboratively with everyone else, everyone was a winner. It was great to actually have a family game night with absolutely no arguing. My kids got so excited when a new challenge card was read and everyone worked really hard to meet the challenge. There was a nice variety of easy challenges and more difficult ones. I would definitely recommend this game. It is for ages 8 and up but my 6 year old easily played (we would read her card and she would draw pictures instead of writing).
Buy it here: You can purchase Cranium Brian Breaks from your local store's toy/game aisle for around $14.99. It is also available through Amazon for $12.96.
