Review: My daughter's eyes lit up the minute I showed her the kit, "My own cake decorating set! Now I don't have to use yours!" The Cupcake Decorating Studio is designed for children ages 7+, but she has been decorating with me since she was 3 so she was easily able to use the tools. There are tools for both classic frostings as well as fondant. She absolutely loved the book which had some pretty impressive cupcake designs.
We made some buttercream frosting and I allowed her some creative freedom to decorate as she wished. The plastic froster was a lot easier for her to use than decorating bags. The only problem was she wanted to change the frosting colors several times which required cleaning out the tube and tips several times. She also loved having her own cake spatula. Overall, she did a really good job on her cupcakes and she absolutely loves the kit. She is already asking me when we can try to make some fondant cupcakes! The price ($24.99) is well worth it given the sheer amount of products in the kit. They were all made of plastic, but they pieces are sturdy and I am fairly certain this kit will last a very long time. I would definitely recommend it and it gets my seal of approval!
