Holiday gift giving guide: The VeggieTales DVD is a great gift for children up to the age of 9. The Classics Blu-Ray is a great gift for people of all ages (hey, I still love watching these movies every year!)
VeggieTales: The Little Drummer Boy, from Big Ideal Entertainment, is a retelling of the classic Little Drummer Boy story. The musical rendition features Junior Asparagus as the lonely child who finds the true meaning of Christmas when he stumbles upon the birth of the baby Jesus. It runs for 45 minutes and contains the following bonus features:

Review: If you have never seen VeggieTales, then let me try to explain. The series retells classic biblical tales or moral tales using these cute and funny vegetables and playful songs. This specific movie tells the tale of the Little Drummer Boy. According to my daughter, Bella, "The movie was happy and a little bit sad when the boy couldn't find his parents. He was a good drummer. I liked the songs. I think other kids should watch it!" There was a nice mixture of classic holiday songs with original ones and the show was pretty cute. It is always nice when my kids are attracted to a wholesome program!
The Original Christmas Classics has been released on Blu-Ray and features the beloved TV films you and I grew up with, and your children have likely watched every year as well. The box set features the following Rankin/Bass classics “Frosty the Snowman,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” and “Frosty Returns.”
Review: Watching these movies is truly a tradition in our household. They have been adored through generations and I was so excited to see that they were converted to Blu-Ray. We had some old VHS copies that we have been watching since the kids were born. Obviously, these were made using old fashioned cameras so seeing them in a high definition format really helps with the quality of both the audio and visuals. Rudolph has been, and probably always will be, one of my favorites. My kids and I had a great time sitting down and watching this classic. It really helped get us into the holiday spirit and I am sure we will watch these movies again and again before Christmas!
