Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked Wii Game Review

Gift Giving Guide: This would make a fun game for children who enjoy dancing games and love the Chipmunks!

I own several dance games for the Wii and my daughter enjoys them, but grows easily frustrated over the more complicated moves. Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, a high-energy dance game for kids, is based on the third installment of  the beloved Chipmunk movies. It is available on Kinect (Xbox 360), Wii, and Nintendo DS.  The game is a full-body dance experience. You are able to choose your favorite character (which the game recommends after you answer some fun questions that matches your personality to that of the Chipmunks and Chipettes).  You earn points by correctly dancing to the beat and features 30 Chipmunk songs including:
  1. All Day and All of the Night
  2. All Star
  3. Beat It
  4. Bring It On
  5. California Dreamin’
  6. Crocodile Rock
  7. Hit Me With Your Best Shot
  8. I Fought The Law
  9. It’s Tricky
  10. Just Like Heaven
  11. Karma Chameleon
  12. Kids In America
  13. La Bamba
  14. Life Is A Highway
  15. Love Shack (w/ The Chipettes)
  16. Oh Pretty Woman
  17. Only Want to Be With You
  18. Play That Funky Music Chipmunk
  19. Shake Your Groove Thing
  20. Stayin’ Alive
  21. Surfin’ Safari
  22. The Chipmunk Song
  23. Turn the Beat Around (w/ The Chipettes)
  24. Video Killed the Radio Star
  25. Walkin’ On The Sun
  26. We’re the Chipmunks (Deetown Remix)
  27. Whip It
  28. Witch Doctor
  29. You Really Got Me
  30. You Spin Me ‘Round
Review: My daughter loves Brittney so she was really excited that she was able to "be" her in the game. The game was pretty cute.  There were different background scenes and a ton of songs to choose from. As you progress through the game, you unlock more songs.  The dancing was fun and easy, yet challenging enough for her that she did not get bored.  You mirror the movements of the chipmunks but they also show you an outline of a human body at the bottoms since, well, chipmunks do not exactly have the same body proportions and it was, at times, difficult to mimic some of their moves without looking at the human outline. Overall, I would say this is a good and fun game and I would recommend it for kids who enjoy dancing games.
