Weight loss is one of the most popular New Year's resolutions in America. There are tons of fancy and fad diets to choose from; however, one of the healthiest ways to lose weight and keep weight off is portion control. Yum Yum Dishes sells dishes that help both children and grown ups better ration their foods. Their original Yum Yum Dish is a 4oz bowl designed to allow you a perfect snack serving that will prevent you from over doing it (provided you don't refill the bowl).
Recently, they have released the 9 Plate. It is named as such because it is 9-inches, a more appropriate size if you are trying to monitor portions. Inside the plate are subtle markings for portions of a classic dinner. One half of the plate is designated for vegetables, one quarter for protein, and one quarter for carbs.
Review: I received a 9Plate to review. It is a nice and heavy ceramic dish and is nicely painted with a blue border and in the middle is the company's slogan "Yum Yum Time is...Over". The sides of the plate is elevated to prevent you from over-filling the plate. This is a very functional feature; however, I was worried that it would make stacking my dishes in my cupboard difficult. I was surprised when it stacked just fine. I really like the concept of the dishes and I will definitely use the one I received as I seriously need to lose some weight this year. The plate's design makes it really difficult to "cheat" and I am hopeful that it will help me keep on track in 2012!
