Foodie Friday: Balance Bar Bare Review

Nutrition and energy bars are a staple in our house during the school year. Since we are always on the go, I almost always have a few bars in my purse. Balance Bars, one of America's original nutrition/energy bar leaders, has introduced a new flavor, BARE Blueberry Acai!

BARE Blueberry Acai is made with a crisp high-protein core, sweeteners, dried wild blueberries, sunflower seeds, and acai juice powder.  A yogurt coating is along the bottom and there are rolled oats on top to bring an extra crunch. The bar is high in vitamin and mineral content.  Each bar contains 15 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber and 7 grams of whole grains. It has 200 calories, 19 vitamins and minerals, and is a good source of antioxidants. Like other Balance Cars, this one follows the company's 40/30/30 model of nutrition (40% calories come from healthy carbs, 30% from protein, and 30% from dietary fat) to help stabilize blood sugar levels, satisfy hunger, and provide lasting energy.

Review: How can I wrap this up into one word? Oh yeah...YUMMY!   I am  huge fan of Balance Bars and have found that they are one of the best tasting energy bars I have tasted. The Blueberry Acai is no exception. There is quite a lot of flavor packed into one bar and the contrasting taste of the oats with the sweet yogurt bottom and berries is delightful. They are filling enough that 1 bar in the morning would satisfy my hunger and keep me full for several hours.  Plus, the sweetness of the bar helped satisfy any craving for sweets that I experienced.

Buy it here: The new Bare Bars are available wherever Balance Bars are sold. They come in 1.76oz. single-serve bars and have a suggested retail price of $1.69.
