Review: I have never been disappointed with a Chicken Soup for the Soul book but this one was particularly well constructed. As a licensed therapist, I know that being a caregiver can be one of the most satisfying, yet difficult experiences of one's life. It is very easy to forget about your own needs because you may be so busy attending to the needs of your loved one. It is uplifting but touches on the difficulties many face along the caretaking journey all the way up to the death of the person who has been their primary focus for so long. Caregivers often do not have a lot of time for themselves so the Chicken Soup for the Soul format is a perfect read since it contains short stories that can be read one at a time. Plus, it can be comforting for the caretaker to read about other people who have been through similar experiences.
