Review: I usually decline to do any types of reviews that are religion based. Not only can the topic be controversial (I avoid writing about politics too), but it is a touchy subject for me. I was raised to follow an organized religion but later in life decided that it was not for me. Although I may have lost my faith in the organization, I never lost my faith in God. However, trying to find where God fits into your life when everyone around you belongs to a certain religious group can leave you feeling lonely.
I have tried to read faith-based novels in the past; however, there was always a proseletizing tone to the books which immediately turned me off. This book, however, was a real joy to read. The stories were written by people who were at various places within their own spiritual journey and I suspect the editors were cautious when choosing stories that the tales were uplifting and encouraging rather than focused on trying to convince the reader that a certain religion is the way to go. The Finding Faith Through Miracles chapter was my favorite. The stories literally had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up at times. As with the other Chicken Soup for the Soul editions, the short stories fit in well with my busy lifestyle. I could read a quick story in the morning and one before bed.
